CYG Team Launches Plant It Forward Initiative |
|
Winnipeg is a great place to live and do business. By doing just a little bit, we can help keep it that way.
The IBEX Herd is always on the lookout for ways to keep our community looking good, feeling positive and helping others. This year, in addition to the annual greening of the South Osborne Underpass, the Herd is also initiating Plant It Forward.
Plant It Forward is a campaign to bring the community together to demonstrate that when we all work together we can make the impossible, possible. Together, we can create a beautiful field of flowers in Winnipeg in March. Together, we can help Habitat for Humanity ensure everyone has a decent place to live.
During January and February, community groups throughout Winnipeg are getting together to build flowers out of reclaimed, used, unwanted items. At the same time, businesses and individuals are being asked to support these volunteers’ hard work by donating to Habitat for Humanity. In March, the event will culminate with an outdoor display of all the flowers at the Forks. This display will help draw attention to our cause, to the hard work of community volunteers and to the financial contributions of Winnipeg businesses.
That's Plant It Forward!

People often ask us why we spend our time, money, and energy cleaning up a space that doesn't belong to us, doesn't bring us any direct benefit and raises money for some other organization. It's simple - we do it because...
- it feels good
- it's our way to help our community
- it helps deserving families get decent housing
